Product Recall

Interstate Meat Distributors and XL Foods Ground Beef — September 21, 2012

In cooperation with the USDA Food Safety Information Service's public health alert on raw boneless beef trim products imported from Canada by XL Foods, Inc. that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, Haggen has voluntarily recalled a number of ground beef items sold in Washington and Oregon.

Haggen was informed by Interstate Meat Distributors that the ground beef products produced for Haggen included trimmings that were subject to XL Foods Inc.'s expanded recall. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Haggen is issuing this recall out of the utmost concern for the safety of our guests. The recall affects products sold at Haggen between September 3—September 23, 2012. Haggen is asking its guests to check all ground beef in their refrigerators and freezers. Please return all product (with or without a receipt, with or without original packaging) for a full refund.

The ground beef that is currently for for sale in all Haggen stores has been ground separately from the meat we have received from the Interstate distributors.
