Mount Vernon firefighters raising funds by delivering Valentine’s Day flowers

February 1, 2011 • Mount Vernon, WA

The only thing better than ordering flowers for delivery to your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day is knowing that the delivery fee will support a charity.

Off-duty personnel from the Mount Vernon Fire Department will raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association by delivering Valentine’s Day flowers through Haggen’s Hearts on Fire program.

Firefighters in uniform will deliver flowers that are ordered from the Mount Vernon Haggen Food & Pharmacy at 2601 Division St. (848-6999). Deliveries will be made from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday Feb. 14 (Valentine’s Day). Advance orders are requested to ensure the off-duty personnel can make as many deliveries as possible. Haggen is donating the delivery fees to the local firefighters for their MDA drive.

The MDA (www.mda.org) combats neuromuscular diseases through research, education and medical services.

Haggen, Inc. operates 32 supermarkets in Washington and Oregon under the Haggen Food & Pharmacy and TOP Food & Drug names. Headquartered in Bellingham, it is the largest independent grocer and sixth-largest private company based in the State of Washington. For more information, visit www.Haggen.com.
