Ralph’s Greenhouse

In 1980, Ralph de Vries retired from dairy farming and started a big garden free of herbicides and pesticides because, as he said, “We didn’t use them in the Old Country!” Ralph’s son Ray stepped up in 1988 to continue the family’s farming tradition providing Haggen with an assortment of fresh–picked greens and vegetables all season long.

Haggen and Skagit Flats Farm share a true passion for organically grown vegetables. Andy Ross and his wife Laura answered their calling when they purchased a 13-acre farm outside of Mount Vernon, Washington to grow a variety of lettuces organically. Their success in supplying local businesses with organic vegetables enabled Andy, a former environmental health analyst for Skagit County, to focus his efforts full time on the farm.
