Countdown to BelleWood Acres HoneyCrisp Apples
As the unofficial welcoming committee for fall, this year’s first batch of local BelleWood Acres HoneyCrisp apples will arrive on September 22, one day before the Autumn Equinox—how very fitting! We’re counting down the weeks and days until these Fall favorites are filling our stores.
BelleWood Acres HoneyCrisps Are Here!
Just west of the Cascades, the folks at BelleWood Acres have found the ideal spot for growing some of the most deliciously crispy apples in the Northwest due to the cooler climate and fertile soil (the stunning view of Mount Baker doesn’t hurt either). John and Dorie Belisle planted their first HoneyCrisp trees 10 years ago. Our Produce Buyer, Lee Reyonds, was their first customer after he tasted this new variety firsthand and knew it would lead to something amazing. That first year, we sold over 25,000 pounds of this new, top-shelf variety which got their farm off the ground and put them on the map for exceptional Northwest fruit. Our partnership with BelleWood Acres is as strong as ever today as we continue to work together to get their delicious products to market and strengthen our community.
