Fresh from the chilly Alaskan waters
Robert McDonnell and the Kulshan Crew
Kulshan Sockeye is caught off of Kodiak Island through our Ocean Beauty partnership which works directly with Kodiak fishermen like Robert McDonnell, otherwise known as Captain Roddy, a Bellingham native who has been fishing for more than 40 years. McDonnell captains the Kulshan, named after the Lummi Nation’s name for Mount Baker, and recruits students from Western Washington University to help crew the vessel. During the season, Kulshan salmon is delivered to us while the crew is still out fishing–making it possible to have fresh, wild Alaskan salmon at our seafood counters just days after being caught.
