The Haggen family today

Haggen has been called “the store that has it all”–and for good reason. Here, you'll not only find the USDA Choice Angus beef; fresh veal and lamb; fresh local and exotic seafood; all natural pork with no additives; premium quality fresh fruits and vegetables; deli and baked goods, but a FTD Floral Shop, Market Street Café, an in-store Starbucks Coffee shop (in most stores) and much more.

Since 1933, when Ben and Dorothy Haggen and Doug Clark opened their first store on Bay Street in Bellingham, WA, Haggen has been synonymous with quality, service and innovation. In 1941, Haggen became the first store in the Northwest to offer a self-service meat counter. In 1951, Haggen again led the way by introducing an in-store scratch bakery. Haggen was the first grocery store in the U.S. with an in-store Starbucks Coffee shop (1989), and an FTD Floral shop (1979).

Plus more than innovation, the Haggen family takes the greatest pride in providing outstanding service to its customers. Today, the company is owned by Ben and Dorothy's sons, Don and Rick, who continue to work to see that our customers still receive the care and attention that the company's founders offered their friends and neighbors in that Bay Street store nearly 75 years ago.

There are now 15 Haggen Food and Pharmacy locations in Washington and Oregon. Today, the Haggen Corporation employs over 3,700 employees and is listed as one of the largest privately owned companies in Washington State.
